Is alive these days! Even with the heat and the dryness that summer has brought, there are oodles of critters moving around. We’ve heard and seen peccaries, toucans, pacas, agoutis, kinkajous, jaguarundi, basilsks, snakes, frogs, monkeys and more in the last week. Everything seems thirsty, as we’ve spotted lots of wildlife in the base camp area making tracks for the river.

Dry air, lots of sunshine… we are in the midst of summer here at the finca.

After a week of documenting progress in the National Herbarium on a botanical inventory of FBV, Gerardo came home with good news. One of the 700+ species collected thus far is one step closer to being recognized as new to science. An investigator from the National Herbarium will be on-site next week to inspect the vine (a passiflora) and its habitat.
